DiskDuo vs CleanMyMac
An honest comparison: what each shows you before it cleans, what leaves your Mac, and what you pay. DiskDuo is a one-time purchase; CleanMyMac is sold by subscription.
Compared
Wise Disk Cleaner is a well-liked free cleaner on Windows. It is a Windows program: there is no Mac version to compare against feature by feature. If you have come here because you wanted it on a Mac, this page is about what the equivalent looks like on macOS.
The short answer
On Windows, Wise Disk Cleaner is a sensible free choice. On a Mac you need something else, and the thing to insist on is that it shows you every file before it removes anything, and that it moves them to the Trash.
| DiskDuo | Wise Disk Cleaner | |
|---|---|---|
| Platform | macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon and Intel | Windows |
| Price | One payment | Free, with a paid Pro tier on Windows |
| Disk map | Nine views of one scan | A disk analyser on Windows |
| Removal | Trash, reversible | Windows Recycle Bin or permanent, by task |
| Analytics | None | See their Windows privacy policy |
Sandboxed containers under ~/Library/Containers, group containers keyed to a developer’s team, caches that rebuild themselves, iOS simulator runtimes that run to tens of gigabytes, Xcode derived data, and APFS clones that make a copy free. A cleaner that does not know these will either miss most of your space or offer to remove something it should not.
Whatever you use, insist on seeing the list before anything is removed, and on the Trash rather than immediate deletion. DiskDuo is built that way on purpose: staging is not deleting, every path is re-checked in the engine at the moment you confirm, and macOS’s own folders cannot be staged at all.
On Windows, Wise Disk Cleaner is free, small and does what it says. Nothing here is a criticism of it; it simply does not run on a Mac.
